HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — Frederick Charles "Fred" Ripken of Havre de Grace has passed away. He died July 30 at age 60, according to his obituary.
Ripken was the father of Austyn Ripken and Mariah Ripken Curll, grandfather of Kaedan Lucas and Keegan Curll, and brother of baseball Hall of Famer Cal Ripken Jr. as well as Ellen Ripken and William Ripken, according to his obituary. He was the son of Violet and Calvin Ripken Sr.
Known as a motorcycle enthusiast, Fred Ripken owned Rip's Performance Center and was also a "natural athlete of his own," coaching Havre de Grace Grace Little League and Havre de Grace High School softball, his obituary states.
A viewing will be from 2–4 and 6–8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 3, at Zellman Funeral Home, 123 S. Washington St., Havre de Grace. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 4, and they will be livestreamed on the Zellman Funeral Home Facebook page and website.
